Our country is a small populous one in south-east Asia. Its name is Bangladesh. It gained independence from Pakistan on 16 December, 1971. Dhaka is its capital. More than 16 crore people live here. Most of them are Muslims. Most people are farmers. The rest are businessmen and service holders. People of all communities live here with peace and amity. The national dress for men is payjama and punjabi and for women, sari. Most people wear longi and shirts. There are six seasons in our country. Every year natural clamities like flood, cyclone, drought etc. visit here. Its climate is hot and humid and the land is plain and fertile. Rice, tea, jute, wheat etc. are our main crops. Different kinds of juicy and delicious fruits grow here. The state language of our country is Bangla. Many people speak English. There are also a number of tribal dialects. Bangladesh is also a land of beauty. Natural beauty is the main attraction of the country.
