International Mother Language Day - Paragraph

February 21 is the International Mother Language Day. It is observed with due solemnity all over the world. It is a public holiday. The day is originally connected to Bangladesh. After the division of Indian subcontinent in 1947, Bangladesh came under the rule of Pakistan. They were exploiting us cruelly. As part of their evil plan, they wanted to take away our mother tongue. But our heroic sons protested against it vigorously on February 21, 1952. They even sacrificed their lives to protect our mother tongue. So the Pakistani rulers could not be successful in their evil plan. From that time we observe 21 February as Language Day or Shahid Day. In 1999, some Bengalis put up the sad event before the authority of UNESCO and they declared it as the International Mother Language Day. Thus our history of Language Movement has got international recognition. I think our Language Movement is very closely connected to the achievement of our independence. Because our victory in that movement inspired us to achieve independence. And at last we were successful in achieving our independence.
